Win-E-Mac Food Service has fielded a few questions about meals for distance/virtual learners. Please continue reading to make sure your question hasn’t already been answered before calling the school office with your question.
How can my distance/virtual learner receive meals from Win-E-Mac Food Service?
Please send an email directly to Head Cook, Cam Thompson: cthompson@wemschools.org.
Will meals be delivered to homes like they were during distance learning last spring?
Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver meals to homes at this time. They must be picked up at the school. When you email Cam, she will work with you to arrange a time for you to pick them up.
Are there deadlines to sign up for meals? Are there certain “pickup” days?
Yes, and yes. There are different deadlines and pickup days depending on whether you’re in the Red group, the Blue group, or whether you’re learning from home every day. Those deadlines and pickup days are as follows:
- If you are here Monday and Tuesday (Red group), Cam needs to know by the Friday before for meals to be sent out the following Tuesday (this would include meals for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).
- If you are here Thursday and Friday (Blue group), Cam needs to know by Wednesday for meals to be sent out on Friday (this would include meals for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday).
- If you are a virtual learner who is home every day, Cam needs to know by Wednesday for meals to be sent out on Friday (this would include meals for Monday through Friday).
Once I have signed up, how long would meal pick-ups continue?
Meal pick-ups would continue weekly for you until one of two things happens:
- You send Cam an email stating that you wish to discontinue meal pick-up.
- The current grant funding for free student meals runs out.
Could I just call and request a meal on a day-by-day basis?
Unfortunately, we are not allowing this scenario at this time.
What should I do if my question has not been answered above?
Please email Cam with your question: cthompson@wemschools.org.
