Good morning, Summer Rec Parents!
This is Andrew Hanson, the technology coordinator at Win-E-Mac (and the admin for the school website and Facebook page). These last few weeks, I have been helping Oscar with communication by posting announcements and updates to either the school website or the Facebook page or both.
The problem with using these platforms for Summer Rec posts, in my mind, is that the updates that are normally posted to the school website and the Facebook page are meant for wider circles of parents, students, or the general public.
Another problem is that, at times, the announcements from Oscar have been very timely, such as “the bus is leaving at this location right now and will be back at Win-E-Mac at this time”. I don’t work every day during the summer, and the last few days, those types of updates have come at bad times where I am not able to post them quickly enough.
Because of these problems, we have decided to shift to Remind. If you haven’t heard of Remind before, parents sign up for individual “classes” and can choose to receive announcements via text or email or both. Oscar has created Remind “classes” for all six Summer Rec groups:
