Good morning! Device handout is returning to Open House tomorrow night! Like two years ago, students can pick up their device in their first hour teacher’s classroom. (The only exception to that is Mrs. Burd, whose first hour classroom is the Gym. Her first hour students will go to Mrs. Winter’s room, Room 51, instead.) One change from two years ago is that teachers will not be handling payments. That will go through the front office. If you want to avoid the lines at the front office tomorrow night, please complete the Online Registration for your students and pay the tech fee online. These are required for all students who are bringing a device home, including 6th through 12th grades. If you have any questions about this, please email technology@wemschools.org. (More information about this was also posted on August 13th if you missed that post. Additional technology information can be found here: sites.google.com/view/wemtech)
Students in 6th grade, as in the past, will be receiving iPads. Students in 7th through 9th grades will be receiving new Chromebooks this year. Students in 10th through 12th grades will be receiving Windows laptops as they had last year. Many of those students will receive the same laptop they had last year. In many cases, however, students will receive a laptop that is new to them, especially if they’re taking an OCHS class this year but didn’t last year, or they’re taking Media Production but didn’t last year. Also, all the juniors will be receiving laptops that are in better condition than those they had last year. Those students in 10th through 12th grades who are getting a laptop that is new to them will have to log in for the first time in our building because their laptop needs to connect to our on-site server. For those students receiving Chromebooks, they can log in wherever they have internet access. “How to log in” sheets will be handed out tomorrow night. They are also included for your convenience below. Again, if you have any questions, please email technology@wemschools.org, and the tech guy will be happy to help! Thanks!
