Superintendent’s Notes for November

By Randy Bruer

Inclement Weather

Winter weather will soon be upon us and we will be faced with decisions to close school because of unsafe weather conditions. The district will use a School Reach system to notify parents and students when unsafe weather conditions are upon us. Please check your communications info with the school for accuracy. We will send out a notification to your home phone, cell phone, email or other means of programmed communication if such weather exists. If we have nasty weather, please listen to the TV and radio stations for emergency weather announcements. We make numerous contacts and visits throughout our district and region to make a concise decision of whether to close school or not. Our first priority is the safety of students.

School Levy

Around Thanksgiving, each of you will receive your Proposed Property Tax Statement/s. The school levy Portion of the Statement for the 2019 Pay 2020 school year will show a decrease of approximately -1%. This is due to three factors: school enrollment, Market Values and a larger credit to Ag properties. Compare the Market Value and tax comparison to last year to see the differences. These factors contribute to the proposed amount of tax on your Property Tax Statement.

Construction Trades Program

The Building Trades class is busy with another house this year. It is a 1400 square foot house which will be moved next summer. If you are interested in seeing the construction of this house, please stop by in the back of the school. If you are interested in a house for the 2020 school year, please speak with Nathan Johnson or the Superintendent.

During the months of December – February our students will have experiences to work with Mobile Manufacturing labs, Robots and Welding practices using trailers of equipment bought through legislative action for Pine to Prairie schools.

  • Our School District is in need of Sub Bus Drivers, and Drivers for extra-curricular activities. If you know of a male or female who would like to make good money driving a bus, please call or email the District Superintendent. We need to begin the licensing process soon to be completed. We are interested in dividing the bus routes with another driver you are interested in that. Give us a call.
  • Substitutes for Para, Cooking, and Custodian jobs are always needed. If you have some interest in doing one of these jobs, please call or email the Superintendent’s Office for an application.

Sports

The Win-E-Mac Volleyball team ended their season with a good showing. We are proud of the girls, and thanks to the coaches and athletes for all the memories and hard work they put into the sport.

We are in the final stages of football play. Let’s get out and support the efforts of the football team and cheerleaders as we move forward into state competition! We are offering fan buses to the games if you are interested. If they should attend the competition in Minneapolis, we will offer a Charter bus to the game leaving at 4:00 am and returning after the game. Call the District Office for more information. Catch the Patriot Spirit and come out and enjoy the activities and functions of the Win-E-Mac School!
