About the Permanent School Fund Constitutional Amendment

Minnesota voters will see a Permanent School Fund constitutional amendment on the November 3 ballot.

The fund has supported public education since 1858. The proposed amendment would update how money from this existing fund is distributed to schools, without increasing individual income or property taxes.

For Win-E-Mac, estimates based on FY2025 figures show approximately $14,500 in additional annual funding. Actual amounts would vary. These dollars would be unassigned funds, allowing the district to address local needs. Many school funding sources are restricted to specific uses, so this flexibility matters.

A YES vote approves the proposed change. A NO vote keeps the current system. Leaving the question blank has the same effect as voting NO.

If approved, the change would take effect July 1, 2027.
